                                                             WINGS PROGRAM

SOLO LEVEL  (New Student Pilots)

 

Pilots must have a valid AMA card and be a  member in good standing of the Abington R/C Sport Flyers. All flying must be in the presence of an ARCSF instructor.

 

A-    SAFETY

 

1.       Read complete AMA Safety Rules

2.       Read Club Field and Safety rules.

   

B-     FLIGHT

 

1.       Straight and level flight.

2.       Oval racetrack pattern, left and right.

3.       Taxi aircraft.

4.       Figure eight pattern, left and right while maintaining altitude.

5.       Slow flying control.

6.       Stall and stall recovery.

7.       Take offs.

8.       Idle throttle glide.

9.       Landing approaches.

10.   Controlled Landing.

11.   In flight trim adjustments.

 

 

Once pilot has passed the Solo level requirements, they may now fly with a club member present who is qualified as a SPORT FLYER. Solo qualified pilots shall not  fly alone.

 

SPORT FLYER LEVEL

Pilots must meet the following requirements for SPORT FLYER LEVEL Proficiency. Pilots who have completed the SPORT FLYER Proficiency test are approved to fly unassisted at  AR/CSF fields.

 

A.- SAFETY

 

1.    Read complete AMA Safety Rules

2.    Read complete Club Bylaws and Club Rules

 

B.- PRE-FLIGHT

 

3.    Transmitter controls and their function on the aircraft

4.    Transmitter range check ( min 75 ft. )

5.    Control surface check

6.    Engine run-up and reliability check

 

C.- FLIGHT

 

7.    Straight flight at a constant altitude

8.    Left & right 180 degree turns at constant altitude

9.    Ability to fly left and/or right hand patterns within designated limits

10.Gradual take off with straight line departure

11.Right and left 90 degree turns

12.Gradual take off with procedural turn

13.Landing approaches at mid and low altitudes

14.Announce landings and takeoffs

15.Simulated dead stick landing ( idle throttle or power off)

16.In flight trimming of aircraft

17.Touch and go landings.( optional electrics)

18.Three ( 3 ) consecutive takeoffs and landings with no prop to ground contact ( optional electric’s)

 

 

INTERMEDIATE  LEVEL

 

SPORT FLYER LEVEL and SOLO Flight are a Prerequisite.

2.   Right and left hand pattern

3.   Two ( 2 ) consecutive inside loops

4.   Two ( 2 ) consecutive rolls, one left the other right or viceversa

5.   Figure eights horizontally

6.   Stall turns

7.   Inverted fight straight line up wind

8.   Immelman turns

9.   Touch and go’s

10.  Half reverse cuban eights

11. Stall with a spin and recovery

12. HumpyBump

13. Snap roll.

 

ADVANCED  LEVEL

 

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL is a Prerequisite.

 

A.- SAFETY

 

1.   Set example for others in abiding by AMA and Club Safety

2.   Assist others in learning to fly

 

 

B.- FLIGHT

 

3.   Left and right hand pattern inverted around field

4.   Two ( 2 ) consecutive outside loops

5.   Two ( 2 ) consecutive rolls, one left the other right or viceversa, from an inverted attitude

6.   Straight line knife-edge

7.   Figure eights vertically

8.   Stall turn or hammerhead with full roll on vertical down

9.   Four ( 4 ) point roll

10.  Side or front or knife edge slip

11.  Avalanches ( snap roll on top of an inside loop )

12.    Sharks tooth; vertical up, ˝ roll on inverted 45degree down line

13.    Square loop

14.      Slow roll
